Welcome to The Karpas Health Information Center

IRVING D. KARPAS

It is with profound sadness that the entire Beth Israel Medical Center community join swith the leadership of its parent company, Continuum Health Partners, in acknowledging the passing of our dear friend, devoted colleague, generous benefactor and one of the outstanding leaders in the history of the hospital, Irving D. Karpas, Jr.

Irv, as he was affectionately known to many of us, joined the Beth Israel Board of Trustees in1972, following in the footsteps of his late father, Irving D. Karpas, Sr. Irv's tenure on the Board coincided with the most prolific period of growth and expansion in the hospital's illustrious history. He served with grea tdistinction in numerous roles during his years of dedicated service on the Board, most notably as the long time Chairman of the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing. With his beloved wife Suzanne Toor Karpas, who later joined Irv on the Beth Israel Board, they generously supported many facilities, programs and services at Beth Israel. The Karpas name is linked in perpetuity to Beth Israel through the naming of the Karpas Medical Pavilion, the Karpas Health Information Center and numerous initiatives at the School of Nursing, among many others.

He will forever be remembered for his quiet demeanor, steady leadership and extraordinary commitment to the mission of the hospital. And he will be greatly missed by all who knew him, worked with him, and admired him.

To Suzanne, their children Michelle, Matthew, Jennifer, Patricia, Bruce, Steven, Debra and Peter, the entire Karpas family and all of his loved ones, we extend most heartfelt condolences.
